Sam Hellyer

Head of Wine and Spirits

Sam Hellyer is the head of the Wines and Spirits department with a 22-year career in the industry, working across retail, imports, auctions, and private sales as a sales person and specialist. 

Beginning in a local wine shop in his native Hampshire, UK, to finance his educational aspirations he continued developing his expertise at Oddbins for a decade while studying at university in Canterbury and then while working at The Nielsen Company (never able to quite leave the world of wine). Transitioning to assistant manager for the  Fine Wine Branch of Oddbins in Oxford, then working for an independent wine merchant, an organic wine specialist, and briefly in Qatar - for the nations only wine importer. He spent seven years at Harley wines before transitioning to the auction world. Joining Chiswick Auctions as Head of Wine and Spirits, Sam transformed the department into a successful entity, achieving record sales and profitability and securing significant collections, notably during the Covid pandemic.
